Current Program The Youth Development Institute operates a mentoring and academic enrichment program at The Fountain of New Life, 4601 NW 167th Street, Miami Gardens, Florida 33056.

Youth Development Institute Programs

Youth Development Institute, (YDI)   operates year-round, several times per week:  YDI, serves as the host program which include: Martial Arts, Project Pipeline (S.T.E.A.M), and the Gavel Club.

YDI Primary Purpose is to empower youth in South Florida socially and academically through creative opportunities. First primary purpose is to educate students grades K-12.

Tutoring: Academics

Wednesdays from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm,

Saturdays from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

YDI tutoring sessions are customized for each child, to strengthen weakness in an academic subject matter (Reading, Math and other school course subjects) that will assist them in fostering academic success. Through academic enrichment activities which includes, one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, reading enrichment were students will work on vocabulary, reading comprehension and application, grammar, literacy analysis, informational text/research process.

Gavel Club: Peer Mentoring Opportunities

Every Wednesday @ 7:00 PM

Our Gavel Club educational program is divided into two tracks: Communication and Leadership. The program allows you to choose one track or both, and each features a series of projects. Students have the flexibility to work through each track separately or simultaneously. As students participate in the Gavel Club it enables them to develop communication, improving interpersonal skills, and leadership skills through practical experiences.

Physical Activities Opportunities

Martial Arts: Every Friday @ 6 PM

YDI provides Physical Opportunities through our Martial art program. This program is inclusive of all children, including children with disabilities. Our objective in our disciplines is to teach our students to engage in, active, healthy and physical lifestyles that includes indoor & outdoor play. This allows students to harness benefits towards a healthy body, which research shows that allows for development of critical thinking.

Project Pipeline: (STEAM)

Every 2nd Saturday

Through our partnership with Florida International University (FIU).  Every month   groups of medical students introduce fun and interactive ways to tackle some difficult topics/concepts in hard sciences. Which include the following subjects (civil, aeronautical, electric,) Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, and etc. Our students learn to pursue higher education in hard science. Through activities such as creating ice cream from scratch, building rockets, creating slime, and real heart dissection.
